The Mother's Role In Combating
Children Diseases.
The first role of a mother in combating
diseases in children is preventative in nature. Making sure
that children receive regular checkups, a well balanced diet,
proper exercise and uninterrupted sleep are all ways that a
mother can help a child prevent illness. If the child should
become sick, they will have a strong immune system in order to
fight off the disease with.
Even with the most careful care, good hygiene, and a healthy
lifestyle, children will get sick. When illness becomes
unmanageable with over the counter medications and rest, a trip
to the pediatrician becomes necessary. A calm attitude will be
needed here because children often become scared and clingy
when they have to visit the doctor’s office.
For medical treatment to be successful, doctor’s orders should
be followed as closely as possible. A mother aids in the battle
with illness by knowing what the doctor ordered, obtaining the
right medications and administering medications as prescribed.
In both infancy and childhood, illnesses can come on quickly.
It is the vigilant parent who is able to get their child the
care he or she needs in time which will enhance their overall
health.
In order to lessen the amount of suffering of a child, the
wants and needs of the young child must be anticipated.
Children become upset when they are sick and it is the
affectionate, kind mother that calms the child down. Mothers
are able to help their child recover from illness more quickly
because of their ability to provide comfort and care in a time
of need.
Since many mothers know their children well, they tend to be
the best reporters when visiting at the doctor’s office. A
doctor will need a clear, unbiased picture of what has been
happening with the child and it is the mother who is generally
the one that can paint such a picture for the doctor. A young
patient is difficult to interview and a doctor must rely on the
observations of a parent to get an indication of what the
problems are.
A good relationship between mother and pediatrician is crucial
to getting the best care for infants and young children. With
an open line of communication and a clear understanding of the
needs of the child, the child will receive the best health care
possible.
Mothers are the first line of defense for children against
illness. Mothers that make sure their children eat well, sleep
adequately and exercise will have happier, healthier children
who will learn good habits that they can pass down to their
children.
